Ph.D. Admission (Part Time)

(a) A part-time candidate is a professionally employed person who can, while being employed, enroll in the Ph.D. program of the Institute. The candidate may do her/his research in the Institute (IIT (ISM) Dhanbad) or in their parent organization.

(b) Candidates having minimum 2 years of experience in a regular post in PSUs/Research Organizations/ Organizations having MoU with Institute/ Higher Education Institutions approved by UGC/AICTE/ globally reputed corporate organizations will be considered for admission to part-time Ph.D. without the requirement of GATE/NET/CAT/GMAT. However, they should satisfy the eligibility for admission as defined in Ph.D. manual.

(c) In case of mentoring under TEQIP and other such programs under MoUs the experience requirement may be relaxed.

(d) Candidates seeking admission to the Part-time Ph.D. Program will have to submit NOC from their employer at the time of admission. Those who fails to submit NOC, they need to submit an undertaking to this effect. Degree will be awarded only after submission of NOC from employer.

(e) No financial assistance will be provided to such scholars by IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

(f) Part-Time Ph.D. candidates can contact and interact with the respective faculty members of their courses or with their respective Supervisors while such faculty members visit IIT (ISM) Dhanbad's IIIF Centres at Delhi or Kolkata.

(g) The selected candidates may also be allowed by IIT (ISM) Dhanbad for completion of the assigned Ph.D. coursework in other IITs / transfer of credits of Ph.D. coursework completed in other IITs subject to fulfilment of certain conditions. All such requests need to be made to Dean (Academic) through the allotted Supervisor of the respective scholars after completion of admission formalities.
